Jane Shakespeare
Jane trained at the John Moore
University, Liverpool where she obtained a B.A. Hons. degree in Drama.
Her theatre work includes national tours of The Late Edwina Black
playing Elizabeth, Mercy Croft in The Killing of Sister George,
Gwendolyn Fairfax in The Importance of Being Earnest, Mrs.
Manningham in Gaslight, Harriet Telligan in A Touch of
Danger, Betty Dixon in Wife Begins at Forty, Susan in
Abigail’s Party, Mitzi in A Murder is Announced and both
Elsie and Julia Price in The Ghost Train. Jane has
recently completed a three month tour of Perfect Wedding
playing Julie and open-air productions of Present Laughter
playing Liz and An Ideal Husband playing Mrs Cheveley. She most
recently appeared at the Pomegranate Theatre as Celia Bryce in
Natural Causes and in talking Scarlet's
productions of Teechers, Mindgame, The End of the
Affair and Our Day Out.
She has appeared in repertory seasons all over the
country playing numerous parts including Hazel in Time and the
Conways, Molly in The Secretary Bird, Alexandra in
Double Act, Helena Charles in Look Back in Anger, Edie
Hornett in Sailor, Beware!, Chris in Dancing at Lughnasa,
Ruella in Communicating Doors, Betty in Funny Money,
Jean in Skirmishes, Ginny in Relatively Speaking,
Barbara Smith in Run for your Wife, Rachel Ashley in My
Cousin Rachel, Sara in Girls Night Out, Sally Driscoll in
Dangerous Obsession, Linda in Wife Begins at Forty,
Annie in Table Manners, Ruth in Blithe Spirit, Belinda
in Season’s Greetings and Marge in Absent Friends.
Jane appeared in the West End playing Suzette in
Don’t Dress for Dinner at the Duchess Theatre and completed a 3
month run in the same production in the role of Jacqueline. She
repeated the part of Jacqueline at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre and
the part of Suzette on a tour of Israel where she also played the part
of Jeanette Fisher in a production of Last of the Red Hot Lovers.
She has been a member of the resident summer repertory
company at the Theatre Royal, Nottingham for five years appearing in
their thriller seasons. Her roles have included Laura in The
Unexpected Guest, Gerda in The Hollow, Griselda in
Murder at the Vicarage, Audrey in Towards Zero, Lisa in
Verdict, Julia Price in The Ghost Train, Kay in Murder
on the Nile, Cecily in Love from a Stranger, Sheila in
Suddenly at Home, Liz in A Touch of Danger and Maggie in
Dead of Night .
Film and television credits include Emma Brindle in
The Asylum for Nunhead Films and Queen Ch’tizz in Birthright,
an audio play for Big Finish Productions.
